Senior Power Trader Opportunity with a Leading Commodities Firm
Selby Jennings is currently partnered with a well-established German commodities firm, looking to expand their Power Trading team in London.
The Role
As a Senior Power Trader, you will take a pivotal role in developing and executing trading strategies across power contracts (both physical and financial) to drive growth in the firm's power franchise. This role involves working closely with front-office and support units to maximise trading capabilities, structure and price contracts, manage positions, and generate value through strategic trading while managing risk in a cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Engage in flow trading by managing client transactions and optimising risk management.
- Drive value extraction through carefully crafted trading strategies without engaging in proprietary trading.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to enhance and refine trading strategies.
- Opportunity to upskill and expand knowledge across other commodities.
- Support the development of a physical power business to complement the existing financial power business.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5-15 years of relevant experience in power trading, ideally with a VP or Director title.
- Deep knowledge of European power markets and an entrepreneurial approach to growing the business line.
- Strong analytic and business skills to support the expansion of a trading franchise.
