This opportunity is for a motivated and collaborative Medical Underwriter to support the pricing and underwriting processes. In this role, you will apply your critical thinking and analytical skills while working closely with various teams, including sales, account management, actuaries, and other insurance professionals. Your responsibilities will include reviewing quotes, conducting peer reviews, developing retrospective rate reviews, and assessing medical conditions and treatments to determine risk levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead peer reviews for accurate quote generation and ensure underwriting standards are met.
- Collaborate with sales, account management, and actuarial teams to assess medical conditions and treatments.
- Develop and present claims experience reports for retrospective rate reviews.
- Provide insights into pricing, underwriting guidelines, and risk evaluation to support business growth.
- Apply critical thinking to solve complex issues related to health plan underwriting.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- BA or equivalent degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2-6 years of experience in medical underwriting or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Experience with pricing, underwriting processes, and risk assessment preferred.
- A high level of motivation and a passion for continuous learning and professional growth.
